From the rhythmic sounds of brass bands to the historic streets adorned with Mardi Gras beads, New Orleans has a unique spirit that captures the hearts of many. As a New Orleans wedding photographer, I’ve witnessed countless love stories unfold in this vibrant city. But the story of Katherine and Rachel is one that holds a special place in my heart.

Hailing from Philadelphia, Katherine and Rachel chose to celebrate their love in a city they hold dear: the incomparable New Orleans, Louisiana. It wasn’t just any venue that played host to their union; it was The Will and the Way, one of their favorite bars that carries memories of evenings filled with music, laughter, and shared dreams.

Rachel, a proud Tulane alumna, first introduced Katherine to the magic of New Orleans when they were in college. Those days, wandering the streets of the French Quarter and indulging in the city’s rich history and culture, painted memories they now cherish. Their bond, which deepened with every shared moment in the city, was one of the reasons they decided to have their wedding here.

The ceremony was intimate, attended by 25 of their closest friends, enveloped in the warm ambiance of the venue. As the cocktail hour buzzed with excitement, the streets outside prepared for a quintessential New Orleans tradition—a second line parade. The lively and energetic Tidal Wave Brass Band led the way as Katherine, Rachel, and their guests danced through the streets, a radiant display of joy and celebration.

As the procession danced its way to Tujagues Restaurant, Katherine and Rachel took a moment for themselves. Together, we ventured to some of New Orleans’ most iconic spots. There was an undeniable romantic allure at Cafe Du Monde, where these two shared their first kiss amidst the scents of fresh beignets and chicory coffee. Our journey continued to Jackson Square, with its majestic architecture providing a picturesque backdrop for their love.

New Orleans has a way of inviting everyone into its warm embrace, and that evening, the city celebrated Katherine and Rachel’s love story in all its splendor.

For any couple seeking a blend of tradition, romance, and the undeniable spirit of New Orleans, I can’t recommend this city enough. As a wedding photographer based in Louisiana, it’s always an honor to capture moments that tell the timeless tales of love in the Big Easy
